In 1997 Raj of Broderick, California took a 30 minute drive out to the city of Stockton to inquire on a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. Needless to say, he brought it home with him & it’s been flying the Lo*Lystics Car Club Plaque ever since.
Raj's vision for this 64 Rag eventually had him stripping the vehicle down to the bare metal frame to allow a good foundation for the restoration. The interior, exterior & internals (motor) were upgraded. If it wasn't reconditioned, it was replaced. With help from Lo*Lystics members, as well as the surrounding area shops, the ride was reassembled to better than new condition.
Midnight Player has plenty of eye catching features that are hard to miss. The factory 327 motor was chromed out & now sits between fender wells that were chromed to match. The once bare frame was powder coated black & received a fully chromed undercarriage. Lo*Lystics members also a fitted the 64 with an air ride suspension system to make sure the car drives as smooth as it looks.
Raj doesn't get to take the car out as much as he likes to, but when he gets the chance he hits the streets to get to the local car shows & known cruise spots. He does admit that the car goes on the trailer for the outtalk town & out of state car shows. One thing he is very thankful for is his supportive wife & kids. He states "My wife and kids put up with a lot of $H!T for the ride," and he thanks them for it. His family is his motivation.
Although this ride looks complete, appearances can be deceiving. "I still have tricks up my sleeve; just wait & see” You can check out Midnight Player this year at The 2010 Lo*Lystics Super Show & Concert @ the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland, CA. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for September 26th 2010. This is a show you do not want to miss.
